Mifsud, a Burlington, Ontario native, skated one season with the Thornhill Rattlers and four seasons with the University of Vermont, where he majored in physical education, before making his pro debut with the Gladiators in 2005. With Thornhill in juniors, he won a Dudley Hewitt Cup and was the league leading scorer and MVP of the league as well as Dudley Hewitt playoff MVP. At the University of Vermont, Mufsud earned first team All-New England and second team ECAC honors as well as Team MVP and All-American for Strength and Conditioning honors. He was a member of the 2005-06 American Conference Champions Gladiators club and was team’s second leading scorer which garnered him second team all ECHL honors. Some of his former teammates who have gone on to the NHL include Torrey Mitchell and Patrick Sharp. His favorite hockey memories are winning the American Conference Championship with the Gladiators, especially the overtime winner; the Dudley Hewitt Cup, and going to the ECAC Frozen Four with UVM in 2004-05. His most cherished accomplishment is getting engaged. He models his game after Joe Sakic and says the best thing about being a hockey player is doing what he loves. If he wasn’t a hockey player, he’d be playing major league baseball. He as met Wayne Gretzky, and he enjoys hanging with friends and working out. His favorite NHL team is the Maple Leafs, and his favorite TV show is The Office. In the summers he enjoys golf and working out, and people always say that he is “always laughing.”
